Manufacturers of MP3 players recently, seem to be trying to pack every type of extra feature and capability they can into their units. Sometimes it works great, sometimes it falls short. Today we take a look at an example of how to do it right, with the Samsung YP-P2 8 GB MP3 Player.
Calling this unit an MP3 player is actually not really fair, as it real is an all around media device. It not only plays MP3s but is a 16:9 resolution video player, FM radio, calendar, text viewer, picture browser, and world clock. One of the coolest features though of this unit is its touch screen navigation.
Included with the YP-P2 is: a proprietary USB cord, ear buds, install CD, quick start guide, and a couple of player stands.
The YP-P2 as mentioned above has an 8 GB capacity which is plenty for storing music, pictures and video. It features a nice big 3" by 2.05" screen capable of displaying at 480 x 272 resolution.
The unit is fitted with a Lithium-Polymer battery capable of delivering 35hrs of audio and 5hrs of video. Typical charge time is about 4.5 hours through a pc or 3 hours with an adapter.
Another handy feature is the YP-JP is capable of syncing up to bluetooth 2.0 headphones.
One of the most exciting and dare i say sex features of the player is it's touch screen interface. The menu navigation is very easy to figure out and intuitive, even without looking at the manual. Simply touch a menu item on the screen to select it.
